About the event

Please join us for an educational program titled: Challenging the Management of COPD: Ruling out Alpha-1

During this meeting, we will discuss the importance of ruling out alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (alpha-1), a possible genetic cause of COPD according to the American Thoracic Society (ATS) guidelines. In addition, we will discuss case studies and some myths associated with alpha-1, including the ideas that all COPD is caused by smoking, only younger patients should be tested, alpha-1 is rare, and there is no treatment.

Participants will learn how easy it is to use the free AlphaID ™ tests, strategies on how to incorporate the tests into their practice as well as what support is available to providers and patients if an alpha-1 patient or carrier is identified.

Speaker: Dr. Rajat Walia, MD Medical Director, Lung Transplant Program St. Joseph's Hospital & Medical Center, Phoenix, AZ
